ATHENS COMMUNITY FOREST
The Raymond Bemis Community Forest is located between Brookline Road and Valley Cemetery Road in Athens, Vermont. This 36-acre parcel will have about a mile of walking trails that wind through a diverse landscape, featuring a long stretch of the Bull Creek, glacial deposits, rock ledges, and hemlock forests. The Community Forest is anticipated to open to the public in Fall 2023.

The Raymond Bemis Community Forest is conserved in partnership with the Vermont Land Trust and Vermont Housing and Conservation Board. The land acquisition was made possible by major grants from VHCB, Davis Foundation, Fields Pond Foundation, Windham Foundation and the generous donations of many individuals.

CURRENT STATUS: As of August 2023, the Community Forest land has been acquired and we are in the process of getting the trails ready for public use. Please feel free to visit the property, but know that walking options are still limited. If you are interested in volunteering, please email hello@bullcreekcommonlands.org to get on our volunteer list.
